imaginations is a collection photovoice stories of our everyday lived experiences. It aims to celebrate the power of our everyday imaginations in our private and personal worlds. These imaginations might seemingly be ordinary and mundane, but in fact has the potential to change our world where overt and outward public actions and expressions typically take the centerstage.
The contributions here by various individuals and groups – organised thematically as ‘projects‘ – present a unique opportunity for us to embark on individual and collective action and reflection – known as praxis. These projects are centred on issues of intersectionality – the interconnectedness of individual and collective identity such as citizenship, gender, race, climate change, etc.
imaginations is an on-going and incomplete project that particularly aims to shine light on the invisible, the marginalised and the forgotten. The short-term goal is to raise the critical consciousness of individuals and groups so that they can identify and critique social, political and economical contradictions, and gradually effect change. And the long-term goal is to create a community of critical and caring citizens who will maintain, continue, and repair our world so that we can live in it as well as possible together. That world includes our bodies, our selves, and our environment, all of which we seek to interweave in a complex, life-sustaining web.
You are welcome to be part of this community and feel free to contribute to our imaginations.
